This month, we bring you two new hires, a unique new client and a new campaign.
We’re thrilled to announce the newest addition to our company, Stephen Hourahan. As Director of Public Affairs, Stephen’s responsibilities will include strategic counsel, new business development and outstanding service to current and prospective clients. Stephen most recently served as Communications and Campaign Chairman for U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee (R-RI), and worked for the late Senator John H. Chafee before that. He brings a myriad of experiences to Duffy & Shanley, spanning not only politics but also real estate development, polling and market research, non-profit fundraising and education. Needless to say, we know he’ll be a great asset to our clients and employees.
Rounding out our PR team is Amy Bagner, who joined us in February as an Account Executive. Amy came to us from Stirrings and Nantucket Off-Shore, a producer of gourmet cocktail ingredients and spice rubs, where she served as Public Relations and Communications Coordinator. She’s also had experience in financial/corporate communications and arts marketing. Amy is a proud graduate of Washington University in St. Louis but has a soft spot for the Florida Gators.
This month, we’re beginning work with Aqua-Leisure, the country’s leading producer of quality swim gear and pool games. We’ve been tapped to help the company launch what we think is a groundbreaking product line: First Fitness, a full line of fitness equipment for children ages 4 to 7 that’s affordable and completely accessible for both in-home and outdoor use. In a time when rates of childhood obesity and related problems are skyrocketing, First Fitness is a step towards getting kids physically fit. We’re excited to work with the company and eager to launch the product line to a national consumer audience later this year.
Who’s that behind those Foster Grants? If you’re over age 35, you probably remember the sunglass giant’s legendary ad campaign, which featured such celebrities as Raquel Welch, Mia Farrow, Anthony Quinn, and years later, Cindy Crawford. Beginning last week, we’ve been introducing a new generation to Foster Grant through a $7 million broadcast and print campaign, supplemented by public relations, direct mail, Web and viral elements (we don’t call ourselves “Duffy United” for nothing). Our campaign conjures the spirit of the old ads without going all retro: the 35-and-up crowd will see the connection while younger consumers will see a brand-new campaign.
