Big News.
History was made on June 3, 2007, when a New York Times article announced the launch of the United Football League. And with that, we could finally breathe a collective, “We told you so.”
Yes, we’ve been working with the UFL for months now, creating the league logo and identity, and it’s been killing us that we couldn’t tell you all about it. Or show you. So here it is.
And stay tuned for more. United!
Next, the Publicity Club of New England’s annual Bell Ringer Awards recognize excellence in communications and public relations work in every field and industry, and across all media – print, broadcast and online. And on Monday, June 11, Duffy & Shanley went 3-for-3.
Our team won a “Bell” – the highest honor in a given category – for work with Foster Grant in the “Press Kit” category. In fact, in just six months, our PR efforts have led to more than a dozen placements in crucial books like Lucky, Seventeen and Glamour.
We were also recognized with a bell in the “Print Feature or Commentary Placement: Regional Publication” for Boston University and an in-depth feature article highlighting their professional investigation program on the front page of The Boston Sunday Globe’s “City and Region” section. The feature reached an estimated 1.7 million readers and was credited for increasing applications to the program nearly 40 percent.
Finally, the agency earned a merit for work with ConnectEdu in the “News Release: Regional” category. We oversaw ConnectEdu’s partnership announcement with Michigan’s two largest state universities, which resulted in a front-page spread in The Detroit News’ “Metro” section reached more than 500,000 readers and, in turn, generated 14 television and radio segments statewide.
Congrats to the team and many thanks to the clients who made it possible.
The kids are all grown up.
We love Pelun. (Not as much as we hate Nic, but that’s a story for another time.) Young Pelun Chen is destined for greatness, and we were lucky to have him here for as long as we did, doing great work for Shaw’s, Providence Night & Day and the Business Innovation Factory, as well as taking, like, a year and a half to create our last site. Anyway, Pelun’s now an Art Director at R/GA. And they’re damn lucky to have him.
Jeff Newman worked closely with Jeremy for some time on many of our sports marketing accounts, so it’s no wonder Puma hired him as their Sports Marketing Coordinator. We are accepting new accounts, Jeff, if you’re reading this. Thanks.
Max Johnson, star of the Johnson (no relation) & Wales Advertising Club and former stellar D&S intern just accepted a position at Hill Holiday as Assistant Media Planner, and Dan Jordan, the writing half of “The Dans,” also joined Hill this past month.
And finally, there’s Tom Nolan, Yankee fan and former D&S interactive designer/project manager. Tom always wanted to live in San Francisco (we still don’t get why, what with how sweet the Sweet P truly is, but anyway, he did it). And after a, shall we say, less-than-Duffy experience at an agency to remain unnamed, the boy recently landed a job at Chuck McBride’s new shop, Cutwater. Congratulations, Tom. And did we mention Ray-Bans suck?
Finally (and we mean FINALLY).
Never before in the history of Man, Duffy, or Shanley has an accomplishment by so few amazed so many: We have created a new Web site for ourselves in less than the time it takes an African Bush Elephant to gestate.
Inspired by this very 60 Days thing, the new duffyshanley.com is vital, informative, educational, a pretty good read, and filled with pictures of Molly, Keith and Astrid. Check out new features like leadership profiles, a new portfolio section, and the ability to actually find something when you’re looking for it. Go figure.
