Media Relations Specialist

Duffy & Shanley, Inc. a fast-paced, premier integrated marketing communications agency based in Providence, RI is looking for an Account Executive in its public relations division to support consumer clients. The Account Executive will be focused on national media relations activities, specifically:

  • Responsible for media relations programs for various consumer brands.
  • Knows how to pitch and get “the story.”
  • Day-to-day project management, taking an active and consistent role in program strategy and media materials.
  • Developing relationships with clients to accommodate and better anticipate their needs; responding to their needs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrating a team player attitude by being flexible and responsible; be a self-starter. Providing daily support for a busy team of PR professionals.
  • Facilitating and coordinating various project elements; prioritize and manage high volume of detail work.
  • Working with a team to prepare media materials including press releases, factsheets, media targets, etc.
  • Coordinating special events and activities for clients.
  • Develop, cultivate and enhance collaborative working relationships with key members of the media and expand base of media relationships on behalf of the clients.
  • Work within media deadlines
  • Use insights and knowledge of our client’s priorities and reporter interests to develop creative approaches to amplify the client’s narrative through earned media to reach targeted audiences.
  • Constantly dig for potential news angles and data to support opportunistic storytelling and uncovering media opportunities.
  • Assist with the development and execution of proactive, reputation-building media engagements and campaigns.
  • Assist with monthly metrics and evaluating best practices.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated media relations track record with proven successes.
  • Experience in consumer PR.
  • Media event planning and executing experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of national, regional and local media landscapes.
  • Knowledge of PR tools for tracking coverage, social results, etc.
  • Confident self-starter, willing to lead various projects in an independent setting.
  • Resourceful, diligent, and scrappy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
  • Travel required.
  • Have a passion for public relations and media relations!

Public Affairs Account Executive - New England - New York

Duffy & Shanley, Inc., a fast-paced, premier integrated communications agency based in Rhode Island and New York, is looking for an Account Executive to join our Public Affairs Group to support our growing client portfolio, with a particular focus on supporting our work in the energy, ESG, advocacy, and regional business sectors. Candidates must be based in the Northeast. (While remote work may be accommodated, preference may be given to candidates located in New England or New York with an ability to be based in-person, full- or part-time, in our headquarters in Providence or our New York office in Albany.) Specific responsibilities include:

  • Media relations – proactive and reactive. Knows how to pitch and “get the story.”
  • Developing communications materials, including communications strategy, press releases, factsheets, messaging guides, etc.
  • Content creation for various external audiences, including media, stakeholders, government officials, community partners. Content may include op-eds, letters to the editor, email blasts, etc.
  • Social media content creation, execution, tracking and analysis
  • Public affairs and community/stakeholder engagement. Issues research and analysis.
  • Event planning support
  • Monitoring relevant developments across regional political and media landscapes
  • Facilitating and coordinating various project elements; prioritize and manage high volume of detail work.
  • Providing daily support for a busy team of Public Affairs professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-6 years of public affairs, media relations, advocacy/political campaigns, or related experience. Previous PR client-service experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Northeast business, political and media landscapes. Must have knowledge and passion of ESG and/or economic issues in the region.
  • Demonstrated media relations experience; on-the-record experience a plus
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • “Digital native” experienced in developing social media content calendars and tracking
  • Confident self-starter with ability to work collaboratively and in a team-based structure
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented and scrappy
  • Knowledge of PR tools for tracking coverage, social results, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Previous agency experience a plus.
  • Remote work may be accommodated. Position may be located in Providence, R.I. or Albany, N.Y. Occasional travel elsewhere in the Northeast may be required.

Account Coordinator

Duffy & Shanley, Inc. a fast-paced, premier integrated marketing communications agency based in Providence, RI is looking for an Advertising Account Coordinator in its marketing division to support agency clients. The Advertising Account Coordinator will be focused on supporting the account service, strategy, and media team. Daily support activities include, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with day-to-day client services, such as attending client meetings, collecting client input, recording changes and next steps, logging and tracking campaign components.
  • Supporting the marketing and design team with overall campaign production and coordination to produce a wide range of marketing materials, including digital, social, print, video, etc. Work closely with the Account Service team to help manage and optimize multiple concurrent campaigns.
  • Tracking due dates and deliverables across assigned projects, following up internally and externally to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Contacting external media partners to gather and compile information for media planning. Assist with media buying, including reserving approved media placements, coordinating with the Project Manager on material due dates.
  • Tracking client budgets
  • Conducting industry and competitive research
